The difference between GIF and BMP formats

My good friend, Jan Kerkhof of Belgium has made a comprehensive site to explain that at Figures About Graphics. Basically, GIF is the format which has a transparent background and is a popular format for use on the web. It can also be used for printing. Some people prefer BMP format for printing purposes - this format is not recommended to be used on webpages as you will see a white background surrounding the image.
